Harold Eugene Swansbrough, 76, of Muncie, passed away peacefully in his home, early Thursday morning, February 14, 2013. He was born on November 1, 1936, to Jay and Celia (Benton) Swansbrough in Candor, NY. Harold is a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving during the Korean Conflict. Harold married the love of his life, Peggy Jo Bright, on November 27, 1982. He worked in the dietary department for Ball Memorial Hospital, and also as an inspector for the Tropicana Beverage Company for 20 years. Harold was a member of the Teamsters Union and was an avid Indianapolis Colts fan. He leaves behind his loving wife of 30 years, Peggy Swansbrough of Muncie; son, Charles Dargo of Muncie; daughters, Celia Moore of Castle Berry, FL, Peggy J. Clark (husband, John) of Muncie; foster daughter, Elizabeth Swift of Muncie; brother, Everett Swansbrough of Candor, NY; 5 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Harold was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ronald Swansbrough. Visitation will be held from 11:00 to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 16, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Mildred Hamm, 77, of Muncie, passed away at her residence on Thursday, February 14, 2013. She was born on September 30, 1935, to Luke Edward and Esther Sue (Ryan) Anderson in Strunk, Kentucky. Mildred worked at Munsee Meats, Robert’s, and Wise’s Market during her life. She loved flowers and God. Mildred was the kind of person that would bring out the best in whoever she came in contact with. She leaves behind her loving family, consisting of her daughter, Kathy Johnson of Muncie; sister, Betty Jo Frye of Somerset, KY; and many friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gene Hamm; a child in birth; brother, Willard Anderson; and sisters, Beulah Eastlik, Tavy Vogelsang, and Nellie Ogden. Cecil C. Southerland, 88, of Yorktown, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, March 1, 2013 after an extended illness. Cecil was born on May 10, 1924 in Wayne County Kentucky to the late Clyde and Roxie (Denny) Southerland. Cecil retired from Chevy of Muncie in 1986 after 32 years of service. He was member of The Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church. He loved music and was a member of the Greensboro Quartet in the 1950’s & 1960’s. Cecil is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Cleo (Shaver) Southerland, Daughters, Dorothy (AL) Webb, Linda (Chuck) House, Daughter-in-law, Paula Southerland. Grandchildren, Amy (Christian) Grose, Jessie (Greg) Demkowski, Brittany House, Adam House, Martin Webb, Great-Grand Children, Lexi Grose, Isaiah Grose, Meredith Grose, Ada Dempkowski, Izak Dempkowski, Brother Carson Southerland, of Muncie, Sisters, Vela Denny of New Castle, Violet Smith of Winchester and Bonnie McGriff of Greenville, OH., many Nieces, nephews and dear friends. Cecil was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Roxie, brothers, Beason, Gordon, Ralph and Kay Southerland and his son, Donald C. Southerland. Brenda L. Green, 70, of Muncie, passed away at her home on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 11, 1942, to the late Elmer and Doris (Davis) Clouse in Sullivan, Indiana. She married the love of her life on March 26, 1960, James Green. In her free time, she liked to do word search puzzles and was an avid bingo player. Brenda was also a large fan of Elvis Presley, so much that she had a room dedicated to him. She was always known for celebrating all birthdays, holidays, and anniversaries. Brenda was also a former member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Family was a very important part of her life. Brenda is survived by her loving family, consisting of her husband of 53 years, James Green of Muncie; children, Tamera Welch (husband, Terry) of Muncie, Julia Scott (husband, James) of Muncie, Connie Riley of Muncie, Michelle Brant of Muncie, Kimberly Schoeff (husband Chris) of Muncie, Kevin Green (wife, Racheal) of Muncie; brothers, Ronald Clouse of Yorktown, Stephen Clouse of Yorktown; grandchildren, Danielle Riley (companion, Juan), Tyler Welch, Amanda Ramsey (husband, Justin), Todd Welch (fiancée, Kelsey Howard), Shelby Brant, Jeremy Scott; step grandchild, Carissa Schoeff; great grandchildren, Asia Riley, Dorian Green, Jaxson Riley; family friends, Sherman Minton, Barbara Stapleton; and several cousins and nieces. Lester “Gary” Gick, 61, of Muncie, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 1, 1952, to Willard “Bill” Gick and Esther “Betty” (McNutt) Wright. He was a graduate of Muncie Central High School with the class of 1971. Following high school, Gary served in the United States Military with the Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He worked for Phillips Patterns & Castings in Muncie. Gary really liked to play the guitar in his spare time. He was a hard worker who loved his family. Gary leaves behind a loving family consisting of his sons, Jason Gick (fiancée, Julie Hubbard) of Muncie, Jeremy Gick (wife, Kristin) of Muncie, Justin Gick (wife, Stephani) of Anderson; special niece, Holly Crisp; former spouse, Carla Gick of Muncie; brothers, Ronnie Gick (wife, Trish) of Columbia, TN, Terry Gick (wife, Vicky) of Muncie; sister, Mary Ward (husband, Bruce) of Muncie; grandchildren, Hallie Gick, Tanner Gick, Ella Gick, Addyson Gick, Olivia Gick, Evan Gick, Lincoln Gick; niece, Melissa Smith; nephews, Ian Gick, and Zachary Gick. Muncie-Sherlyn Reed, 69, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 following an extended illness. She was born January 30, 1944 in Muncie, the daughter of Arthur Douthitt and Ruby (Fears) Mullen. Sherlyn worked as a house keeper for Signature Inn and Waters of Yorktown Nursing Home for over twenty years combined and enjoyed gardening, attending family functions, and spending time with her family. She especially loved being with her grandchildren. Survivors include four children, Larry Minnick, Muncie, George Minnick, Muncie, Jeff Minnick, Hawaii, and Darlene Murphy (husband, Gary), Muncie; one brother, Larry Douthitt (wife, Kathy), Muncie; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, George Leon Minnick; and three siblings, Tom Douthitt, Donna Douthitt, and Patricia Ingram. Muncie-Carlis C. Buck, 86, of Muncie, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Liberty Village following an extended illness. Carlis was born July 2, 1926 in Slickford, Kentucky to the late Sam and Elise (Johnson) Buck. Carlis married the love of his life Sally M. (Letourneau) on July 6, 1988 in Muncie. Carlis retired in 1980 from General Motors Delco Battery Division after 30 years of service. He served in the Army during WWII in the 3rd infantry, 106 divisions, and was discharged in1947. He was member of Royerton Baptist Church, an avid fishermen, hunter, gardener, loved nature in general. Carlis work at Ebrights Orchard in Yorktown for many years. Carlis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a friend to all. Carlis had a special bond and love for his little dog Molly. Carlis survived by his loving wife of 24 years Sally Buck, Muncie, Two Sons, Allen K. Buck of Muncie, Arnold R. Buck of Muncie, Two Step-sons, Bud Day Jr., of Orlando, Fl., Michael (Richard) Day of Akron, Oh., Step-daughter, Collen (Don) Allen of Deltona, Fl., Three brothers, Harold (Norma) Buck of Demming, New Mexico., Robert Buck of Springport, In., Delmer (Jodie) Buck of Florida., Four sisters, Lorene (Willard) Smith of Whitesville, Ky., Maxene Anderson of Owensboro, Ky., Nadene Boone of Dalton, Ga., Paulene (Charlie) Boone of Owensboro, Ky., Sister-In-law Jean Buck of Owensboro, Ky., 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Kent D. Kalley, 46, of Yorktown, passed away on Sunday, March 10, 2013. He was born on November 23, 1966, to Clifford and Alta (Beckman) Kalley. He graduated from Southside High School with the class of 1983. Kent worked as an electrician for Outokumpo in New Castle before recently retiring. He liked to camp and was an avid sports fan, cheering for the Indianapolis Colts. Kent also liked to follow NASCAR and was known for being a Jeff Gordon fan. He was always an altruistic person, loved his family, and was a great father. Kent is survived by his loving family consisting of his parents; wife, Sheila Kalley of Daleville; children, Krystena Harker (husband, Jim) of Eaton, Aaron Kalley of Yorktown, Savannah Kalley of Yorktown; siblings, Chris Kalley (wife, Connie) of Anderson, Eric Kalley (wife, Terri) of Greensburg, Lyn Ingram (husband, Albert) of Muncie, Scott Kalley (girlfriend, Angie) of Bluffton, and Michelle Pallichet (husband, Heath). Lloyd R. Barnes, 98, lifelong resident of Muncie, passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2013. He was born on January 30, 1915, to Robert and Fannie (Taylor) Barnes in Muncie. He attended Muncie Central High School before he went into the United States Army. Lloyd served his country during World War II, earning the Eame Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, the American Theater Ribbon, the Good Conduct Ribbon, the Victory Medal, and the Meritorious Unit Award. He met and married the love of his life, Marjorie (Hartley-Spratt), on June 29, 1975. Lloyd worked for the American Lawn Mower Company in Muncie, after serving his time in the Army. After the mowing company closed, he began working at Beckett Bronze Company in 1963, and worked there until his retirement in 1978. In his spare time, Lloyd enjoyed gardening and fishing. When he was younger, he played basketball, football, wrestled, and ran track. Lloyd was also a former member of the American Legion. Lloyd is survived by a loving family consisting of his wife of 37 years, Marjorie Barnes; children and step children, Cheryl Nixon, Bill Bess (wife, Betty), John Spratt (wife, Marsha), Sherri Beaty, Carla Crossland (husband, Jeff), Lori Ammon (husband, Jay); twenty-one grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Mike Barnes; brother, Marvin Barnes; and sisters, Linda Ellis and Thelma Puterbaugh. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Pastor Mike Cassidy will officiate. Hammock Jr. and Arizona Reeves. David worked as a manager for Kroger Groceries for over fifteen years until his retirement in 2001. He enjoyed watching television and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his life-long companion and partner, Donald Coulter, Muncie; his parents, James Hammock Jr. (wife, Julia), Anderson, and Arizona Reeves, Meraux, LA; five brothers, Rick Hammock, Donald Hammock (wife, Kat), Gary Hammock, Darrell Hammock (wife, Teresa), and Larry Hammock; one sister, Terri Curtis (husband, Edward); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
