Muncie – John R. “Bobby” McIntosh, Sr., 79, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2013, at the Waters of Yorktown. Bobby was born on May 16, 1934, to Wm Ruben McIntosh, Sr. and Clara (Barrlow) McIntosh in Muncie.

Bobby was a graduate of Muncie Central High School with the class of 1953. He served in the United States Army from April 1955 to April 1957. Bobby retired from Borg Warner after 30 years of service as a Heat Treat Operator.

In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, as many of his friends and family will always remember him for. Bobby also enjoyed bowling, watching and cheering for the Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts, and watching Westerns. One of his favorite pastimes was enjoying family cookouts and gatherings.

Bobby is survived by a loving family consisting of his children, Roberta Fleming (husband, Alonzo) of Muncie, Dianna Ilsohn (husband, Warren) of Muncie, Angela Anthony of Muncie, Demetrius Anthony (wife, Carla) of Fort Worth, Texas, Steve Richardson of Muncie; siblings, Carie Oliver (husband, Joseph) of New Haven, CT, Bonnie Anthony of Muncie, Richard McIntosh (wife, Barbara) of Muncie; special niece, Wanda Wilkerson; special sister-in-laws, Helen Parker, Ada Moore; special friend, Annie Harris;18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, John Robert McIntosh, Jr., James Arthur McIntosh; brothers, Leo, Benjamin, and Wm R. McIntosh, Jr.; and a sister, Mary Francis Toliver.

A celebration of life for Bobby will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with graveside military honors.

Yorktown-Charles F. Huber, 80, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born March 11, 1933, in Anderson, the son of Louis and Mary Ellen (Hunter) Huber and graduated from Daleville High School. Charles proudly served his country in the United States Army. On October 27, 1953, he married Peggy Joanne Robbins, and together they have shared sixty years of matrimony. Charles worked as a supervisor for the State Highway for many years until he retired. He was a sports fanatic and above all, enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife, Peggy, Yorktown; one son, Chris Huber (wife, Deanne), Elon, NC; four daughters, Vicki Brown (husband, Mike), Anderson, Terri Wright (husband, Wayne), Daleville, Penni Reese, Yorktown, and Lorri Davis (husband, Doug), SC; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Patty Garr.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park with Military Rites conducted by the Veterans of Delaware County.

Muncie – Mary Simmons, 97, of Clearwater, Florida, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 18, 2013, following an extended illness.

Mary was a teacher at Pinellas Park Baptist Church and was active in feeding the homeless at Abundant Life Ministries. Mary lived in Indiana for many years.

She is survived by three daughters, Toni Bouchard, Becky Burgess (husband, Rafael), and Jennifer Fink (husband, Chuck); one grandson, Kelly Simmons; nine great-grandchildren, Aisha, Monica, Rafael Jr., Aaron, Kayla, Brianna, Kendra, Kinsey, and Casey; two nieces, Loretta Reno (husband, Ed), and Shirley Fields.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Loretta Boyer; her husband, Erville Simmons; one son, Fred Simmons; one sister, Lena Hasty; brother-in-law, Richard Hasty; and daughter-in-law, Ella Simmons.

Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Ken is survived by his wife, Linda; brother, Arthur (Eileen), Greenfield, IN; son, Douglass (Deidra), Duluth, GA; daughter, Diana (Kevin), Tucson, AZ; three step-children, Jeffrey (Cyndee) Friend and Jason (Jayna) Friend of Anderson, IN; Janet Porter (Ron) Everitt, WA; step-grandchildren, Justin (Ericka) Porter, Cody (Mandi) Friend, Nathan and Tyler Porter, Jake, Jesse and Jordyn Friend, John, Josh, and Daniel Morse; step-great-grandson, Ayden Porter; and also Marsha (Poucher) Beal has been a very special niece to Ken.

Ken was a longtime member of High Street United Methodist Church in Muncie and the Epworth Sunday School Class. Any contribution in his memory could be made through the church or his scholarship endowment at Ball State University.
We want to express our appreciation to the staff and employees of Morrison Woods Healthcare Campus for all the loving care and respect shown to both Ken and Linda. It helped make his health problems so much easier to bear, knowing he was being tenderly cared for during his last days in this world. God bless you all in the most important work that you’ve been called to perform.
A celebration of life ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home.
Calling hours honoring Ken will be from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 9, 2013 at Elm Ridge Funeral Home and from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday.

Muncie-Genevee Logan, 85, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013, at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 11, 1928, in Bow, Kentucky, the daughter of Waco and Pearl (Vincent) Cash. On April 20, 1946, she married Ray D. Logan and together they shared forty-three years of matrimony until he passed away in 1989. In 1954, she left her beloved hills of Kentucky and the couple moved to Muncie. Genevee enjoyed working in her flower beds and gardening. She also enjoyed sewing and quilting. Above all, she loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren dearly.
Survivors include her children, Norman D. Logan (wife, Kathy), Hartford City, Karolynn L. Deeds (husband, Bruce), Muncie, and Betty Ann Patterson (husband, Dan), Indianapolis; three grandchildren, Michael D. Logan (wife, Sharon), Emily Lynn Jackson (husband, Samuel), and Lindsay L. Garrison (husband, Chad); six great-grandchildren, Cohen, Addi, Callia, Elli, Crosby, and a great-granddaughter on the way, Olivia; her siblings, Justina Ooten, Wendell, Donald, James, and Willie Cash; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray D. Logan; four sisters; and four brothers.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie, with Pastor Chad Garrison officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park.

Muncie-Larry Don Browning, 48, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2013, following an extended illness.
He was born November 10, 1964, in Muncie, the son of Delbert and Rose Anne (Holaday) Browning and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1983. Larry worked as a machine operator for Borg Warner for twenty-five years and Allied Enterprises for one year. He enjoyed watching all sports, especially NASCAR and college basketball. Larry also enjoyed spending the majority of his free time outside.
Survivors include his wife, Tracie Browning; two daughters, Shelby and Tiara Browning; his mother, Rose Browning; one brother, Jeff Browning (wife, Nancy), Dunedin, FL; four nephews, Devin, Lucas, Brayden, and Nate; one niece, Lindsay; and several close friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Browning; and one brother, Greg Browning.
Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2013, at Elm Ridge Funeral Home, 4600 W. Kilgore Ave., Muncie. Private committal services will be held at a later date.

Sandra Jo Myrick (Harvey), 76, of Fishers, formerly of Muncie, passed away on August 10, 2013, at I.U. Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born on February 19, 1937, to the late William and Ardus (Edwards) Harvey in Muncie.

She is survived by her loving family, consisting of her husband of almost 50 years, William Myrick; her only daughter, Karen Ogan (husband, Rich) of Fishers; seven grandchildren, Chase, Chelsea, Caroline, Cydney, Cassidy, Hailey, and Cade; sister, Peggy Boxell (husband, Bob) of Newburgh, IN; and a nephew, Bob Boxell (wife, Marta).

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial graveside service for Sandra will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 16, 2013, in the Garden of Devotion at Elm Ridge Memorial Park, 4600 W. Kilgore Avenue, Muncie. Pastor Steve Dugger will officiate the service. Inurnment will follow in Elm Ridge Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Elm Ridge Funeral Home.

Wayne Allen Bruin, 62, of Melbourne, Florida, was born on August 3, 1951, and died peacefully on Thursday, October 31, 2013. A native of Muncie, Indiana and a graduate of Delta High School, Wayne owned and operated the Rustic Cabin cafeteria on Highway 3 in Royerton for many years. He then moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in the mid-1990′s and later, in 2004, to Florida’s Space Coast, east of Orlando. Wayne loved home cooking, cars and dogs. He is preceded in death by his father, Omer “Scoop” Bruin and his mother, Julia “Judy” Bruin. He is survived by his brother, Tom Bruin (sister-in-law, Lois), of Muncie, Indiana, his sister, Patricia Kabrich, of Las Vegas, Nevada, two nieces, a great niece, a great nephew, two aunts, an uncle, and several cousins and great friends. Calling hours will be Monday, November 4, 2013, at Garden View Funeral Home on Highway 3 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will be Tuesday, November 5, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. at Garden View, with interment immediately following at Gardens of Memory.

Lena Bernice Fox, 88, of Muncie, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 1, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital.

Lena was born April 10, 1925 in Friendsville, Tennessee to the late Claude and Maggie (Borden) Crisp. Lena spent her life as a homemaker and enjoyed listening to Gospel Music, knitting, crocheting, gardening, and working puzzles. She also loved to spend time with her dog, Tiny.

Lena was survived by four children, Calvin Acie Brewer (wife Brenda) of Lenoir City, TN, Claude Edward Brewer (wife Linda) of Maryville, TN, Walter Freeman Brewer of Maryville, TN, and Norma Louise Stinnett of Muncie; three siblings, Henry Crisp (wife Nan) of Florida, John Crisp of Georgia, and June Johnson of Georgia; 11 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Lena was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Fox; a son, William Ray Brewer; granddaughter, Patricia Ann Brewer; and several brothers and sisters.

A funeral service to celebrate Lena’s life will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Steve Allen Rose, 61, of Royerton, died unexpectedly early Saturday morning, November 2nd, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born January 22nd, 1952 in Muncie, IN, and is the son of Virgie Marie (Graham) Cieslak and the late Russell L. Rose.
Steve retired in 2009 from Borg-Warner; he was a member of the UAW Local 287, where he served on the board. He was Union Steward for several years. He was employed as a millwright and served Prime Trust Supervisor Board for several years. A loving son, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Steve is survived by his loving wife of 31 years Brenda Kay (Hardwick) Rose of Muncie; his mother Virgie Marie (Graham) Cieslak (Joe) of Muncie; daughter Shaunna K. Rose of Muncie; two sons, Russell L. Rose and Steve A. Rose Jr. of Muncie; a sister Jackie Sue Rose of Muncie; five grandchildren Alexis Rose, Reginald Harris, Emma Harris, Jessica Rose, and Kylie Rose of Muncie; a great-grandson Noah of Muncie; mother-in-law Shirley Hardwick of Muncie, sister-in-law Lisa Hardwick of Muncie, and brother-in-law Joe Hardwick of Gaston, several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his father he was preceded in death by father-in-law Joe Hardwick in 2013.

James Hatfield, 91, of Muncie, passed away Sunday, November 3, 2013, at Morrison Woods Health Campus.

James was born July 30, 1922 in Pall Mall, Tennessee to the late Isacc and Dolly (Abbott) Hatfield. He spent his childhood in Tennessee and moved to Indiana in 1947. He retired in 1990 after working 18 years for Long Excavating and 26 years for V. Freeman Farming. He attended Gaston Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed gardening and farming.

James is survived by three sons, Larry Hatfield (wife Sharon), Harold Hatfield (wife Marcia), and Bruce Hatfield (wife Linda) all of Muncie; a daughter-in-law, Dianna Hatfield Hendricks; two sisters, Sylvia Neal of New Albany and Osie Crabtree (husband Hooper) of Selma; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife, Mae O. (Pile) Hatfield; a son, Don Hatfield; 6 sisters and three brothers

A funeral service to celebrate James life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, at Garden View Funeral Home, 10501 N. State Road 3, Muncie. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.

Margaret B. Barker, age 91, of Muncie passed away on Wednesday November 6, 2013 at I.U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Muncie. She was born on December 2, 1921, in Parker City, IN. Margaret was a graduate of Parker City High School. On January 28, 1939 she married Emil Barker in Redkey, IN. Her working years were spent as office personnel for Ross Supermarkets. She also enjoyed bowling on the Ross Bowling Team for 25 years. Other memberships include the Madison Street United Methodist Church, where she participated in several church activities, Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxiliary #231, and past member of American Legion Post #241 in Eaton. Survivors include daughters Laura (Morton) Murphy of Muncie and Emilie (K.R.) Weddle-Cunningham of Phoenix, AZ; daughter-in-law Mary Jo Barker of Gaston; 8 grandchildren; several great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Emil Barker in 1988, son Larry Barker, sister Frances Jones, and brother Everett Bousman. Amil Lee Vance, 77, of Muncie, died Monday, November 11th, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. He was born November 17th, 1935 in Seamar, Ohio, and was the son of the late Sammy & Anna (Hunter) Vance. Amil retired from Broderick’s as a press operator after 29 years of service. He loved to draw and paint; he was a very great artist. Amil enjoyed working on cars, watching old movies, and spending time with his family. He had attended the Southside Church of the Nazarene. Amil his survived by his loving wife Loretta May (Baker) Vance of Muncie; four children, Jerry Vance (Deana May) of Muncie, Kimber Vance of Muncie, Betty Neeley (Richard) of Winchester, and Tina Wilson (Jim) of Parker City; three step-children, Karen Harrington (Tony Tutterow) of Muncie, Sara Harrington (Jack Meadows) of Muncie, and Douglas Harrington of Muncie; fifteen grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, a sister Becky Wilson of Leesburg, IN, several nieces and nephews also survive . In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Lorena Bennett, and a brother James Vance. Tommy M. Waters, 69, of Muncie, passed away Friday, November 15, 2013 at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. Tommy was born October 5, 1944 in Sterns, Kentucky to the late Goldman and Ethel Waters. Tommy moved to Muncie in 1955 and graduated from Muncie Southside High School in 1963. He worked at Delco Battery as a fork truck driver for 35 years, retiring in 1998. He was a member of the Dead End Kruisers Car Club and enjoyed visiting the Cop Shop, Strawtown, and flea markets. He also enjoyed camping and fishing. Tommy is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nila (Spoonmore) Waters; four children, Lori Schafer (husband Danny) of Albany, Melinda Steinberger (fiancé Donald Rohn) of Noblesville, Thomas Waters (fiancé Lori Thompson) of Muncie, and Scott Waters (wife Jodi) of Franklin; four sisters, Phyllis Winningham (husband James) of Muncie, Irene Legg (husband Terry) of Peru, Trula Smith (husband Harvey) of Daleville, and Janice Thornbro (husband Bill) of Muncie; four brothers, Dewayne Waters (wife Julie) of Selma, Delon Waters (wife Geneva) of Muncie, Robert Waters (wife June) of Kentucky, and Larry Waters (wife Dedra) of Gaston; eight grandchildren, Robert (wife Cassie), Bryant, Lauren, Kari, Megan, Nira, Raymond, and Javi; and several nieces and nephews. Richard “Dick” Allen Grindle, 78, of Leesburg, and formerly of Muncie, died early Sunday morning, November 17th, 2013 at the home of his daughter. He was born May 16th, 1935 in Fairmount, and was the son of the late Jacob & Marcille (Vetor) Grindle. Dick was a 1962 graduate of Ball State University, with a B.S. degree in Business. He worked his way through college in the furniture business. He later worked for Chevrolet of Muncie, having a great interest in the furniture business he returned to it, and he and his late wife Billie purchased the business, and owned and operated Grindle Furniture for 45 years. He loved his family and traveling south to Texas and Florida during the winter months in their motor home. Dick is survived by his two children, Leith Ann Fullenkamp (John) of Muncie, and Ric Grindle (Kimm) of Muncie; four grandchildren, Kalli Stull (Mike) of Louisville, KY, Kelsi and Klay Fullenkamp of Muncie, and Kylie Grindle of Muncie; three sisters, Rachel Bliss of Fairmount, Judy Jones ( Rev. James D.) of Warren, and Linda Hasty of Boca Raton, Fl; two brothers , Jim Grindle (C.J.) of Fairmount, and Phil Grindle (Lois) of Wabash; several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife Billie Grindle in May of 2013, and a brother Don Grindle.
